1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is an early literacy initiative aimed at getting children from birth to age five ready to read. Shared reading is one of the best ways to help babies, toddlers and preschoolers develop important early literacy skills. This program encourages parents and caregivers to read aloud 1,000 books with his or her child. Receive a reward for every milestone achieved, including a FREE BOOK for registering for the program and another FREE BOOK for completing the program! How it Works: • Register at your local Lincoln County Public Library branch and receive your 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten packet and FREE BOOK. • Track the books you read using this ReadSquared website or app. You can also use the paper logs provided by the library. Reading books more than once is encouraged and each time reading counts as another book towards your goal! Books read during library Storytimes or by others also count toward your child's total. • Visit the library to collect your reward for each milestone achieved. (If you are tracking on paper you can also pick up a new paper log.) *** Please note that you must have a Lincoln County Public Library Card to participate. ***
